Alex Mirutziu (b. 1981) lives and works in Sibiu.
In 2004 he graduated the University of Art and Design, Cluj, (RO) and in 2008 from Huddersfield University (UK) a master degree in physical theatre and performance. Mirutziu’s installation based performances and writings question the ways in which the space is orchestrated after something ends. He uses design in its most bureaucratic sense, collecting imprints of personal and historical events, using understanding and sincerity as factors in the materialisation. The artist has also made a collective which includes a hyper-object — namely himself at 29 – and often operates within its structure. The collective's modus operandi is retroactive irony.
In recent years Mirutziu has lectured in performance and theatre in prestigious institutions from Royal College of Arts, London, Von Kraal Theatre, Estonia, to IASPIS, Stockholm, and has collaborated with artists and writers among which, Grit Hachmeister (DE), Paul Devens (NL), Elias Merino (ES), Graham Foust (US), Asa Jungnelius (SE), Graham Harman (US).
